An Ode to Summer 2020
hi beautiful people!
I know most of us if not all did not expect the Summer to turn out as it did. I pictured myself on plenty of vacays, (even venturing off to Europe) hanging out with friends, and just doing Summer right! Am I right?! But then Covid hit and well, the rest is history. I will say though that with this change in pace and life, it has allowed a lot of us to refocus ourselves on the things we didn’t have time to do before, or it has given us new options and new perspective. And for that I am thankful, are you?
This shoot started with an idea of using my nephew’s kiddie pool as the main focus and prop. I wasn’t quite sure on the details but I know I wanted something with pool vibes. It wasn’t until Jhené Aiko came out with her Summer 2020 video and it was in that instant I knew the direction in which I wanted my inspiration to go. This shoot to me captured the essence of the Summer we necessarily didn’t have. But I wanted it to exude the slower pace and just vibe of what Summer consist of; water, heat, sunny days, etc. So I got to working. I also have a video that I posted on my Instagram that you can check out here. I got the fake flowers from Dollar Tree and the sunflower background (tutorial here) I made myself.
